After his apprenticeship as a Pferdewirt with the focus on “classical riding training”, the young Baden-Württemberg was drawn to Ludger Beerbaum’s renowned sports stable.
After instructive years the way was paved for independence and the journey went back to Viernheim.
Richard has already won the U25 Final at the CHIO in Aachen twice – nationally and internationally very successful at 3* level.
We visited Richi at his home in Viernheim.
The day usually begins at the board, because this is where the whole daily routine is organized.
All horses are listed on the board and their schedule for the day.
Richard’s team includes the rider Vanessa and groom Lisa, who takes care of the horses.
Richard has rented a stable at the Viernheim riding club.
The stables include 11 window boxes, a saddle box, a wash box and the tack room as well as paddocks and the walker.
The two riding halls and the huge jumping arena of the riding club offer a great infrastructure for the daily training.
The varied training is very important. The focus is on the flat work.
From riding out to lungeing, gymnastics and jumping, each horse is individually trained.
In addition to the daily training, all horses get into the machine and onto the paddock every day.
Lesson Peak is Richard’s most successful horse.
The 13 year old gelding enjoyed the Corona break and is now slowly turning highly motivated for the first rounds at the show.
His greatest successes include winning the U25 Final at the CHIO in Aachen, the CSI2* victory in Peelbergen and a sensational 4th place in the Grand Prix of Mannheim over 1.60 m.
Lesson is a very special horse for the whole team with his kind and unique character.
Depending on what is going on during the day, Richard rides between 7 and 10 horses.
The independence brings of course also some office work with itself.
Of course the search for new (young) talents is also part of the daily business. Training young show jumpers is one of Richard’s great strengths.
So is the 5-year-old mare Bonfire Heart with the nickname “Sisi”, who has already achieved great victories and placings in young horse classes show – we are looking forward to the future 🙂
Floyo is the newest member of Richard’s stable.
The gelding is 10 years old and already placed 1,50 m.
They both did their first rounds at the show and are growing together more and more to a team.
Besides the victory in the advanced (S**) level as well as the 2nd place in the advanced (S***) level Grand Prix in Goch, they have already achieved further good placings.
